We used to give our boys massages when they were bubbas, but we weren’t taught any techniques. So what a great idea to be able to learn techniques to do this. I am a big believer that it helped calm them down. They won’t sit still long enough now!
Hi Elizabeth, just wanted you to know I’ve given you an award :D. See details here - http://annettepiperjewellery.blogspot.com/2008/09/quirindi-last-week-merriwa-this-week.html
Dear Elizbeth,
Being in the helath field, we are big believers of baby massage. For people who are in VIC, there is a great course offered by the Aromababy company.
Great Blog,
Emma
Its great to read that there are ‘believers’ of baby massage out there, however, research and studies conducted throughout the world, mainly from The Touch Research Institute in Miami, USA, have found that there are many observed benefits that babies have received from being massaged. In particular, premature babies have shown to gain weight by up to 47% greater than babies who did not receive a massage through positive, nurturing touch. In fact, nurturing touch is absolutely crucial for babies development, both psychologically and physiologically. Massage is a wonderful way for parents and caregivers to provide this crucial touch, and can also assist with the parent-infant attachment (bonding experience). In many cultures, infant massage has been practised for thousands of years.
