Mums Night Out…. Are you going?

Published by Elizabeth under Mums and Dads

Once upon a time …

You were energetic, fun-loving and didn’t have a care in the world …

You’re still fun-loving, you just can’t remember the last time you had some. You’re tired, you’re stressed, you’re feeling like the worst mum in the world …

You’re feeling like a grumpy ogre, and you have for some time now …

You haven’t had a break in ages, and you haven’t spoken to someone over three foot tall in such a long time …

It occasionally crosses your mind about wanting to get out and have a bit of time out for you …

Just imagine … a night of no stress, no pressures and no one wanting something from you the second you sit down.

Enjoy not just the thought of someone serving YOU food and bringing YOU wine, but actually doing it. Without being asked thirty five times.

Feel the freedom of no interruptions, letting your hair down and letting loose!

Have the biggest belly laugh you’ve had in a long time, conversations with adults, hand massages and makeovers.

Dance, relax and have FUN! Remember that?

Go home rejuvenated and with a special give just for YOU!

Go home a relaxed, happy, smiling mum …

Do something for you - and the BEST thing you can do for your kids -

 and book your ticket NOW!

**~**~**~**~**~**~**

I have to say… Last year I went for the first time and WOW… what a night!  I had the best time… met so many great women whom I have kept in touch with and now classed as my friends.

The atmosphere was “electric” and so much fun!!!

The laughter was “contagious”

the flashes from camera’s was “bling-a-fying”

and the prizes and goody bag were unbelievable!

needless to say…

I am going back again this year…..

Don’t forget to look for me there… love to chat to you all!

Warmly

Elizabeth xx

Leah’s “KooL KidZ” healthy cookies

Published by Elizabeth under KooL KidZ

Leah is a well known photographer see her website , and sent in these gorgeous photo’s of her daughter for our KooL KidZ section

.
My daughters name is Malia and she’s 5 years old. She’s a big sister, a kindergartener, an artist and a practicing ‘balleray’ dancer :) (I refuse to correct her pronunciation of the word ballet because it’s just to cute).
I really dislike buying packaged biscuits and snacks from the supermarket, but now with my eldest is in Kindergarten the need for small snacks to fill lunch boxes are more important than ever.
.
Whilst I don’t always get the chance to make them myself and do occasionally succumb to buying from the store *gasp* I do like to make things myself as often as I can.
.
A while ago I found a recipe that had everything I could possible want.
.
Easy to make, fast, kid and allergy friendly (butter-less, flour-less, egg-less and potentially sugar-less) and super healthy. We like to mix in a whole range of other ‘bits’ rather than just the chocolate.
.
Dried cranberries are a favourite! The web site I found this recipe is full of incredible recipes like this one (although not all are quite so easy) but it has become a much loved and referred to place in my house.
.

Nikki’s Healthy Cookie Recipe

3 large, ripe bananas, well mashed (about 1 1/2 cups)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup coconut oil, barely warm – so it isn’t solid (or alternately, olive oil)
2 cups rolled oats
2/3 cup almond meal
1/3 cup coconut, finely shredded & unsweetened
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon fine grain sea salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
6 – 7 ounces chocolate chips or dark chocolate bar chopped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees, racks in the top third.

In a large bowl combine the bananas, vanilla extract, and coconut oil. Set aside. In another bowl whisk together the oats, almond meal, shredded coconut, cinnamon, salt, and baking powder. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until combined. Fold in the chocolate chunks/chips.The dough is a bit looser than a standard cookie dough, don’t worry about it. Drop dollops of the dough, each about 2 teaspoons in size, an inch apart, onto a parchment (or Silpat) lined baking sheet. Bake for 12 – 14 minutes.

Makes about 3 dozen bite-sized cookies.

My Child Magazine…. Autumn Issue

Featured Business

My Child magazinewas my first introduction to the media world. What a whole new world that was/still is.   Lise and the team of friendly staff were amazing in their assistance, and gave me some very blunt, though valuable, advice early on.  It hurt. I was upset … but sure was damned good advice and I haven’t looked back.  It was the most truthful conversation at such an early stage and helped me to find a point of difference and go in the direction of my passion.  I will always remember MY Child helping me to pave the direction onwards!

THANKS LISE & the team!

Style Collective talks ~ “Designer Style for Mums”

Published by Elizabeth under Mums and Dads

At La Toriana we have some very exciting GUEST BLOG POSTS coming from some amazing online groups out there.  Amanda from Style Collective is our first.  Amanda shows some amazing idea’s, inspirations and products for us mums.  Enjoy!

GUEST BLOG POST BY:  AMANDA HAINES (of Style Collective)

The change of season is one of my favourite times of year… it means racks full of delicious new fashion, and a great excuse to hit the stores in aid of wardrobe rehabilitation. This season I’m particularly obsessed with garments from independent designers. The retail benefits are two fold… you’re supporting the livelihood of an indie artist and you’re securing a unique (often one-of-a-kind) piece. We have a rich selection of indie artists in Australia and with the creation of online markets like Madeit and Etsy, we also have access to indie designers across the country and the globe. If you’re sporting some luscious curves, indie shopping is also a great way for plus size fashionistas to pick up some fashion forward styles.

Here are a few pieces from my current indie wish list to get you in the mood for hunting indie treasures!

 1.      Parisienne Fille Dress Mother Maria -

 2.      Fly Away With Me Necklace by Oh Deer! -

 3.      Fresh Flowers Handmade Bag by Daphne -

 4.      Kitsch & Cute Birdy Brooch by Howdy Stranger –

 5.      Zen Bordeaux Linen Ballet Flats -

 6.      Plus Size Betty’s Boatneck Blouse by Stefanie Bezaire –

 7.      Dainty French Garden Locket necklace by Pretty Peonies -

 8.      Lion Tamer Scarf by Artish -

 9.      Rue des Rosiers Dress by Shaina Mote –

Three LIttle Trees Georgie Dress

My Photo

Winter 2010 collection is sweet and delicious, quirky and oh so much fun.

Three Little Trees dishes up the cool factor with an eclectic range of gorgeous winter must haves.

Childrens’ imaginations will run wild…little girls, lollies, icecreams, owls, bunnies and birds, balloons flying freely high in the sky.

These garments are made from high quality fabrics to keep your children nice and warm on those cold winter days.

Layers are also a great way that three little trees has adapted to the different climates around the world making play very comfortable.

There is something for every one in this collection, we are sure you will love it!

The Georgie dress above $59.95 is my favourite.  I love the owl pattern!!

Sized quite generous, my almost 8 yr old fit well in the size 7 with room.

I love the Charlee dress $59.95 .  Looks awesom with leggings as featured here or thick tights too.  Wear it with or without the pink ribbon for a complete different look.

The Molly white winter long sleeve Tee, $34,95  is sure to be fav in your little girls wardrobe this Winter season.  Soft and cutre and true to sizing, team with leggings, skirts and jeans for many different outfit looks.

WE love Three LIttle Trees online at La Toriana.  See what we wrote about last years 2009 Winter Collection of Three LIttle Trees HERE.

Australian designers and business in todays kids fashion industry, Kate and Jacqui are so talented.  Here is a little about them in their own words….

Welcome to Three Little Trees……

Our gorgeous photography is taken by www.lumin-essence.com.au

Every child is unique and beautiful in many different ways. Kate and Jacqui design bold stunning styles to reflect and enhance the beauty of all children in this world.

We began this journey because we believed that we could bring something new and unique to fashion for children and babies. If you have ever heard the saying “We do not own the Earth, we merely borrow it from our children” you will understand what Three Little Trees is all about.

With every garment there are native seeds according to the country the garments are sold in attached to each swing tag. The idea here is that children from all over the earth; while looking stylish, can plant these little seeds and watch our world grow with them. This tiny little thing that we can teach our children to do will sustain our earth for their children and grandchildren for many years to come. Educating our children on sustainability is of great importance to the ethos of Three Little Trees.

We are mums and we know what is practical and what works in the daily activities of little ones. We have gone to a great deal of effort to create sensible stylish ranges, and we hope you all enjoy them as much as we have in designing them.

Enjoy…xxx

You would have to agree these are so sweet designs for the Australian 2010 kids fashion Winter season.  Remember too… each garment from Three Little Trees  receives FREE seeds to help tsart your own little patch with the kids.  There are limited sizes so dont procastinate too long, I really dont like seeing sad faces!
